As the words slipped away, images flooded my mind...
I last visited this corner of Substack in January; truth be told, I had lost the motivation to be here. I wasn’t in a great place at the beginning of the year.
Between dealing with challenging kids and being diagnosed with anaemia, on top of managing an underactive thyroid and a demanding full-time job, it felt like I was trudging uphill wearing concrete boots.
Words had deserted me, but like all things, balance eventually found its way back. I've found myself drawing more than ever, with a new collection of work starting to emerge. I feel motivated and purposeful, and it's a beautiful sensation.
Perhaps a natural sense of vitality has returned now that spring has arrived. I absolutely adore Spring! It’s my favourite season, and (with the help of iron tablets!), my body feels reenergized, the evenings are brighter, and the chill of winter is finally fading.
Lately, I've been immensely privileged to work with an extraordinary group of individuals in the group coaching sessions I lead at FLOWN. Their willingness to be open, to share their experiences, and to pursue their goals with determination has been incredibly inspiring for me on a personal level. Their enthusiasm, coupled with the fresh beginnings of spring, has reignited my creativity. I hope they know how much I appreciate them 💕
🦌 Artwork Update - The Stag
Stage 1 - this is the final pen and ink fineliner drawing. The next stage involves creating prints for gold foiling. Obviously, you’ll have to stay tuned to see that unfolding ;)
👆🏻 I'm sharing more of this process on Instagram, too, as reels. The inner me screams, 'Oh, what have I done, going back to Instagram again?!' But I've finally made peace with Insta’s weird ways and have been rather enjoying it there lately.
The algorithm has been serving me some fantastic content, and I think, as an artist, it's still a great place to be inspired.
Like life, don't take it or yourself too seriously.
🚶🏻♀️Daily walks - Renewal
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, an important part of my creative prescription includes regular naked walks. This week has been gorgeous as spring flowers have been bursting into life and promising better days.
Go outside…what do you see that signifies birth and renewal??
🎵 Music to Move Your Pencil To
This track ‘Beautiful Tango’ by Hindi Zahra has been on repeat while I’ve been drawing leaves on the stag antlers. The rhythm lends itself nicely to the rhythm of the dots of dashes of the fineliner drawing. Give it a go!
💬 And Finally…A Quote to Live By
